It is Vitally Important to Choose the Correct Bed for Infants with GERD

GERD is known to be a common condition that is suffered by a great number of people around the world. Many people confuse GERD with heartburn, however, it is a more serious condition. The LES (lowers Esophagus Sphincter) is the muscle which opens to allow the food into the stomach. It is when this muscle fails to operate correctly that the acid from within the stomach is allowed to return back into the esophagus.

When this acid from then stomach refluxes back into the esophagus is when it causes the burning and irritation. This condition needs to be diagnosed and treated as complications can arise in which permanent damage to the esophagus can be caused , plus, it can also lead to more serious conditions such as esophagal cancer.

With this condition there can be various symptoms which are experienced by the sufferer. These can be dark or blood in the stools, chest pains, unexplained weight lose, hoarseness and problems swallowing.

Gerd in Infants

This condition does not only affect adults, but also children and even infants can suffer from GERD. This can be more serious as the lining of the infant’s stomach is much thinner than that of an adult, therefore, damage can result in a shorter period of time.

Bed for Infants With GERD

One of the ways to ease this condition is to provide a bed for infants with gerd. This is a specially designed bed for infants with gerd and will help them to deal with the condition.

The actual bed for infants with gerd is slanted. It is designed in this way so that the chest of the infant is on a higher level than the stomach. Therefore, this stops the acid from the stomach making its way up the esophagus into the chest area and then onto the throat and causing pain. This bed can help relieve the symptoms of gerd and also goes some way to prevent them from coming back in the future.

Before you purchase a bed for infants with gerd it is a good idea to have a talk with your family doctor. They should be able to inform you of the best outlets to purchase the bed from and could possibly help in getting a better deal or maybe a discount.

Please be aware that this maybe only one of many changes that may have to be made to treat the gerd condition. This will all depend on the severity of the gerd symptoms which will be diagnosed by your doctor.

It is relatively common for babies under 1 year old to regurgitate their food or vomit. This is known as Gastroesophigal Reflux (GER).This usually resloves itself by the time the baby is 6-12 months.

The development of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) in young children is less common. If GERD in infant is apparent, this needs to be addressed as soon as possible. It is, therefore, important that parents/carers are aware of the signs and symptoms.

GERD occurs when the muscle between the esophagus and the stomach opens allowing acidic contents from the stomach to flow into the esophagus. The acidic liquid causes pain and discomfort as it come into contact with the walls of the esophagus. If left unchecked this condition can cause damage to the esophagus.

There are a range of symptoms that might suggest that your baby is experiencing GERD. These include: chronic vomitting, frequent coughing, irriability around mealtimes, refusal of food, signs of discomfort such as back arching, failing to gain wight or losing weight and respitory problems.

It can be difficult to identify GERD in infant because many of the symptoms are also associated with other conditions including metabolic problems. The diagnostic process usually starts with the doctor taking a history of the child’s symptoms (it is advisable to keep a log of any worrying signs that your child may displaying). This may then be followed up with medical tests.

When an infant is diagnosed with GERD parents or carers are often advised to make some changes to their care routine. For example, try to ensure that your child doesn’t go to sleep straight after a meal, feed your child small frequent meals and elevate the top part of your child’s bed (by placing blocks under the bed) so that your child is not sleeping in a completely flat position. . In some cases, GERD in infant will be addressed through medication and in very rare cases surgery may be recommended. To summarize, GERD is a condition that can occur in infants. It is important seek medical advise if your child is displaying any of the symptoms outlined above or any other signs that might indicate ill health.
